Come conquer clouds, star clusters and black holes in the Tyrolean Alps!

Thanks to the resolving power of new observational facilities, as well as breakthroughs in collisional N-body models and physically motivated multiscale hydrodynamical simulations, we can probe the multiphase interstellar medium, the processes of star formation and black hole growth, and star cluster evolution over an ever wider range of spatial scales, wavelengths and redshifts. We now have access to the chemical and kinematic properties of the most embedded phases of star formation, and the dynamical and stellar characteristics of star clusters across mass, age and environment. We can begin to ask how extreme radiation and gravitational environments influence the formation and evolution of intermediate and massive black holes. This workshop gathers experts in observations and numerical theory across career stages to discuss the interconnected themes of galactic multiphase ISM, star formation, star clusters and black holes. During the workshop, we strive to update the current picture of what drives galaxy evolution on sub-galactic scales and identify tensions and future avenues to progress the state-of-the-art in both observations and simulations.

The workshop takes place in the picturesque Austrian village Alpbach in the Tyrolean Alps from 10th of June to 14th of June 2024. The modern Congress Centrum Alpbach (https://congressalpbach.com/en/) has a focus on sustainable conferencing. The expected number of participants is ~60. The conference fee is 350 euros, including daily lunches, coffee breaks and a social dinner.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions regarding the workshop.
